Australia progresses market access for Vietnamese dragon fruit

VIETRADE - Dragon fruit is grown in Queensland, the Northern Territory, and parts of Western Australia and New South Wales. Most of the farms are small scale and supply to the local market only. Producers in the Northern Territory (the major production area) also supply fruit to interstate markets. Australia does not currently import fresh dragon fruit for human consumption. However, Australia already has established conditions for the importation of seed (for sowing) and nursery stock of some varieties of dragon fruit into Australia.

Vietnam to export processed chicken to Japan for the first time

VIETRADE - Japan is the leading broiler meat importer though the provisional figure for the annual total in 2016 was little changed from the quantity purchased back in 2015, and is at a similar level to that anticipated for the next decade. Particularly, 2016 Outlook Post projects Japan’s record high 2015 broiler meat consumption (2.245 million MT) to hold steady at around 2.44 million MT in 2016 (Global Agriculture Information Network).

Ago-forestry-fishery exports fetch US$2.69 billion so far

VIETRADE – The country’s agro-forestry-fishery exports reached an estimated US$2.69 billion in November, lifting total figure in the 11 months of this year to US$29.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6%, statistic from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development revealed.

Viet Nam to develop brand for food industry, quality first

VIETRADE - Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to continue the effort of developing branding program for the food industry. Accordingly, a strategy on Vietnam food industry branding will be developed in line with the National Branding Program which had been approved in 2003.

Domestic food processing industry poses potential for investors

VIETRADE - Vietnam’s food processing industry was offering huge investment potential for domestic and foreign investors, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Speaking at an investment promotion conference held recently in HCM City, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thị Kim Thoa agreed that there remained huge opportunity for investors entering the sector.
