Vietnam Expo 2012 - ideal platform for trade promotion Print E-mail

18469-vnexpoVIETRADE - The 22nd Vietnamese International Exhibition, Vietnam Expo 2012, with the topic “Vietnam – Cooperation for Development” sponsored by the Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, opened its doors in Hanoi on April 4.


Within the framework of the Vietnam Expo are the activities to enhance export and local markets; to connect trade relations, investment and technology transfer between local and foreign enterprises; to promote Vietnam’s economic integration; to contribute to the implementation of policies to curb inflation, stabilize macro-economy, and ensure social security; and to promote Vietnam’s brands and potentials.


The Vietnam Expo 2012 comprises of more than 600 stands occupied by 450 domestic and overseas businesses from 20 countries and territories across the world including Belarus, America, Russia, China, Japan, India, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cuba, Cambodia, etc. Apart from foreign enterprises, Vietnam Expo 2012 is also the destination of numerous local companies, especially well-known brands like Petrovietnam, NhatLinh, Hapro, Bao Minh, Phu My Hung, etc.


At the opening ceremony on April 4, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien praised the participation of so many overseas businesses. He highlighed the significance of the expo – one of the important events of the National Promotion Programs – with 21-year prestige and efficiency and hoped the annual event would provide Vietnamese businesses with more opportunities to promote their goods, seek out trading partners, and expand their businesses and exports into the international markets.




As usual, the products and items displayed in Vietnam Expo 2012 including Agricultural products and processed food; Construction and building materials; Interior and Exterior decoration and craft; Raw materials for textiles, leather and footwear and Textiles machinery; Electronics, IT and electricity; Machinery and equipment; Food, beverages and food additives; Cosmetics and beauty products; and Services.


The delegation consisting of 50 Indian enterprises led by the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) presented at the expo, most of which are working in the manufacturing, trading and services areas. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Vietnam – South Korea diplomatic relation establishment, there were a large participation of Korean enterprises in the expo. According to a Hanoi representative from the Korean Trade, Investment & Promotion Agency (KOTRA), this indicated not only the strong trade ties between the two countries but also that Korean businesses are expecting to find more Vietnamese partners. 50 Belarusian companies participating in the expo have faith in the potential of Vietnam’s market as well as the country developing strongly in the near future. Vietnam Expo 2012 is the 6th times’ participation that Belarus had its national pavilion.


In addition, within the framework of the expo are the activities to enhance the friendship and collaboration and investment between local and foreign enterprises including Vietnam Export Promotion Forum 2012 held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade; China (Yunnan) – Vietnam trade matching seminar; Seminar on Trade and Investment between Vietnamese and Indian enterprises; Seminar on Export Promotion through trade fairs in HongKong sponsored by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency in collaboration with the Hong Kong Trade Development (HKTDC); Business Contract Signing Ceremony, Medal Award Ceremony and business tours, etc.


“Vietnam Design Sharing” Pavilion at Vietnam Expo 2012, an activity under the “Vietnam – Korea Design Sharing Program” (DSP) hosted by Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE) in cooperation with Korean Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP), was highly considered as an outstanding point of the event. With creative design, the pavilion attracted a huge number of visitors, trade partners and media agencies on the first day of the trade fair. Vietnamese companies in various typical industries such as agriculture, leather and shoes, arts and handicrafts, electronics, design, etc. have joined the pavilion together, including MTV Hanel Co., Ltd, Hoa Lan JSC., Hop Tri Co., Ltd and Phong Chau Co., Ltd.
