khu_cong_nghiepVIETRADE - Mineral: Mineral resources in Dong Nai, which may be exploited include:

+ Metal mine group: There are 19 mines and ores including of 2 laterit boxit mines, 17 gold ores and mines, and some places have signs of lead, zinc, gold, silver and caxiterit. Gold mineralization is mainly distributed in the north of province (Tan Phu, Tan Dinh, and Vinh Cuu) with low content, except for Vinh An mine and Suoi Ty ore that are forecasted to a much reserve. In addition to the mines above, there is bauxite distributed in South Cat Tien. A bauxite layer here is 10 meters thick and its reserve – about 450 million cubic meter – is forecasted for level P2.

 

+ Non–metal mine group: There are kaolin, natural color flour, limestone, quartz and construction materials of sand, ion, and payola. Kaolin is distributed in Vinh Cuu, Long Thanh and Nhon Trach; ion is distributed in many places of the province, specially in Long Khanh; construction rock in 50 places, specially in Xuan Loc, Thong Nhat, Vinh Cuu, Long Thanh, and in higher sections of the rivers of Dong Nai and La Nga.

 

Socio – economic structures

Transportation system:

Road:  At present, total road network length is 6,202.7km in which tarred roads are 1,592.3km, concreted roads 80.5km. Kinds of road’s average density is 0.6km/km2 . However, tarred and concreted road’s density, which remains low, only reaches 0.16km/km2, making up 26.7% of total road network length, so it has not met conditions on transportation systems to serve industrialization – modernization and push up the province’s socio – economic development. The province’s road system is composed of 244.5km national roads that cross the province (5 national routes No 1A, 20, 51, 56 and 1K), 369.1km province roads that are connected to the national roads, 13.7km streets in inner areas of districts and towns, 3,835.7km roads of inter-wards and villages, and 390.2km that are served for province – run economic units.

 

At present, there are 8 road stations – 3 stations located in Bien Hoa city, and 5 stations located in centers of towns and districts of Tan Phu, Long Khanh, Xuan Loc, Vinh Cuu, and 6 stations – 2 in Bien Hoa City and 4 in districts of Xuan Loc, Cam My and Vinh Cuu.

Rail way: A north – south rail route, which crosses the province, has 8 stations and is 87.5km in length, and an important route of transporting the province goods and passengers to a middle coastal region and northern areas.

Bien Hoa station is the main station equipped with signal information system, which is semi-automatically run in the whole rail route of north – south.

 

Waterways:

Riverway: The province’s total waterway length is 532km. Total water length, which has been used to transport, is 205km. It includes 8 main routes of the rivers of Dong Nai, Thi Vai, Dong Tranh, Cai, Nha Be, Long Tau, Go Dau and La Nga in which the Dong Nai river is the most important. The river, 162km long, is the main waterway route to transport goods and passengers in the province and to Ho Chi Minh City and provinces of Binh Duong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau water routes from a river network of Dong Nai (Nha Be 8,5km, Long Tau 9km), receiving ships that enter in the Dong Nai river from ports of Sai Gon, Cat Lai, Phu My and Ong Keo. The Thi Vai river’s route allows sea ships to enter in ports of Go Dau, Phuoc An.

 

Seaport system: Total capacity of receiving goods from ports in Dong Nai is 3.5 millions tons/year, namely:

- There is the Dong Nai river’s Dong Nai port, which re ceives ships with 2,000 DWT. The port’s capacity is 600 thousand tons a year. Further more, the Dong Nai river also has 2 other ports of SCT Gas and VT Gas (in Long Binh Tan – Bien Hoa City), which can receive ships with 1,000 DWT.

 

- There is the Thi Vai river’s Go Dau port. The port has 2 sectors A and B. Sector A (serving for Go Dau industrial park) can receive ships with 2,000 DWT and sector B includes 2 integrated quays; the quay 2 can receive ships with 12,000 DWT. Furthermore, there are other ports such as VEDAN (Phuoc Thai) which can receive dry goods transportation ships with 10,000 DWT and fluid goods transportation one with 12,000 DWT, and unique gas factory port which can receive ships with 6,500 DWT.

 

Besides the system mentioned, Dong Nai also has rivers ports. Capacity of 142,000 – 205,000 tons a year is received at river ports. Main river ports include:

- Quays for enterprises and containers (in An Binh Ward, Bien Hoa City). On the Cai river, there are quays of COGIDO, Tin Nghia and Con Co, which receive barges with 500-1,000 tons. On the Dong Nai river, there is the quay of Ajinomoto, a quay of a water transportation company and 6 quays for containers, which receive barges with 500-300 tons.

 

- River quays for construction materials: There is about 50 quays on the rivers of Buong, Dong Nai and in areas of Hoa An, Long Thanh, Vinh Cuu, Dai An, Thien Tan. They are mainly used for barges with 500 – 1000 tons. (to be continued)
