Geographic location

Binh Dinh is a South Central Coastal province of Vietnam, located in the Central key economic region, with total natural area of 6,025km2, Binh Dinh borders on Quang Ngai province in the North, Phu Yen province in the South, Gia Lai Province in the West and the East Sea in the East; about 1,065km from Hanoi, 649km from Ho Chi Minh City, 300km from Da nang city and 300km from Bo Y International Border Gate (Kon Tum province) to Laos.


Situated in the heart of the North-South (on three Highways 1A, trans-Vietnam railway and domestic airways), Binh Dinh is the nearest and the most favorable gateway to the sea of West Highlands, Southern Laos, Northeastern Cambodia and Thailand (via Quy Nhon international seaport and the national highway 19). With Phu Cat Airport, it only takes you one hour to travel between Binh Dinh to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In the near future, when Nhon Hoi seaport of Nhon Hoi Economic Zone is completed, the transport infrastructure system of Binh Dinh shall create superior advantages in regional and international exchanges.


Binh Dinh Province consists of a Quy Nhon provincial city, a town (An Nhon) and 9 districts (An Lao, Hoai An, Hoai Nhon, Phu Cat, Phu My, Tuy Phuoc, Tay Son, Van Canh, Vinh Thanh). Quy Nhon is the class-1 city with the area of 284.28km2, population of over 284,000, together with Da Nang and Hue cities as the center of trade, service and international transactions of the Central and West Highlands, Binh Dinh is determined to be the central city in the South of the Central key economic zone by the Government.





Binh Dinh is located in the tropical monsoon climate zone. The average temperature is 27.4oC (the highest temperature: 39.1oC, the lowest: 15.5oC). The average humidity: 80%.

Total number of hours of sunshine per year: 2,223 hours (maximum: 2,333 hours, minimum: 2,133 hours).

The average annual rainfall: 1,935 mm (the highest: 2,467.4 mm, the lowest: 1,339.7 mm).

Tide: 154cm (the highest: 260cm, the lowest: 44cm).


Human resources and education and training facilities

At present, the population of Binh Dinh province is estimated to be 1.5 million, of which, the people at working age make up 55%. Quy Nhon University is a multi-disciplinary university with 40 various disciplines for over 15,000 students, annually more than 3,000 students graduate from university.


Quang Trung university has over 13 disciplines. Binh Dinh College, Professional College, Medical College, the Central Agricultural and Rural Development Professional College and many professional intermediate schools and occupational training centers etc... Tay Son - Binh Dinh Kung Fu Institute, 2 colleges, an occupational training school and 1 center for international exchange of multi-disciplines are being promoted to establish. Annually, thousands of scientists, skilled workers are trained to serve for province and the region from the foresaid education and training facilities.


Medical facilities

The medical facilities of the province include: Provincial polyclinic (grade I, 900 sick beds), 2 province-level regional polyclinics, a city polyclinic, a private polyclinic and speciality hospitals, district medical centers, qualified private clinics can meet the demands of disease examination and treatment for the people in province and the neighboring provinces.


Transport system

1. Road

The national highway runs across province with the length of 118km The national highway 1D is 33km in length (19km in the area of Binh Dinh), connecting Quy Nhon city to Song Cau district of Phu Yen province on the national highway 1A.

The national highway 19 in the area of province is 70km in length connecting Binh Dinh province to West highlands provinces, Southern Laos and Northeastern Cambodia.

Nhon Hoi coastal road - Tam Quan is 107 km in length serving for tourism, services. A western road of province with the length of 112km from An Nhon to Hoai Nhon is being constructed. There are hundreds of provincial road kilometers, most of them are made of asphalt concrete and cement and thousands of concretized inter-district and intercommunerural road kilometers.


2. Railway

150 km of the national railway runs across the province Binh Dinh occupies Dieu Tri railway station (one of the largest stations in Vietnam, about 12km from the heart of City and seaport) and district stations. In addition to couples of trains of Vietnam railway operating in North-South route, there are high quality couples of trains running Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon (SQN) and vice versa.( to be continued)
