Orientation for Binh Duong province’s social-economic development up to 2020 Print

VIETRADE - Enjoying advantage of natural conditions, socio-economic potential and leadership policy of the Party and State, Binh Duong will continue its sustainable development, becoming a civilized, most modern city in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.


Development perspective

The master plan for the socioeconomic development up to 2020 in Binh Duong Province is to establish a province with rapid speed of economic development, ensuring a comprehensive relationship between economic growth and social issues settlement, poverty alleviation, continuously improving the material life and spirit of the people.


Focusing on exploiting the advantages of geographical location, the cooperation of the provinces in the Southern Key Economic Region and the development core–Ho Chi Minh City–so as to develop the economy and society. Taking initiative in the international integration and enhancing the economic efficiency in association with the social development which is based on key investment, building the synchronous infrastructure network; developing the industry in association with urban development and services; developing the society and economy in close association with environment protection, ensuring national defense and security in the area.


Development Goals

Promoting the economic restructuring, structuring labor in the direction of developing industry and service; maintaining the economic growth at a higher rate than that of the Southern Key Economic Region; focusing on housing development services, human resource training and development, and health care. Completing the industrialization to create balanced, sustainable development for the period after 2015;


Building Binh Duong into a quick and comprehensive developed province in term of economy; ensuring the relationship between the economic growth and the proper social issues settlement, poverty reduction, continuous improvement of the material life and spirit of the people.


The urbanization and industrialization process:

- The urbanization rate will reach 40% by 2010, 50% by 2015 and 75% by 2020. It is forecasted that the urban population by 2010 shall be 480 thousand, 1.5 million by 2020. It is striven for the province of  Binh Duong to become urban type I, and urban under the central by 2020. Binh Duong City connects to Ho Chi Minh City and Bien Hoa City to become the metropolis of the country.




- By 2020, the province is expected to have 31 industrial parks with the total area of 9,360.5 ha and 23 industrial clusters with the total area of 2,704 ha.


Structure of infrastructure:

- Transportation: Developing the road traffic connecting to the modern national highway system at the regional level, to international airports and seaport cluster of Thi Vai–Vung Tau and other infrastructure systems; focusing on developing trunk road from Binh Duong Avenue to Hoa Lu Border gate, from Binh Duong Avenue to Dong Xoai, Dau Tieng, and My Phuoc-Tan Van highway. Closely coordinating with the Ministry of Trans port to build cross-axis: belt-road No. 3 and No. 4, roads of Thuong TanTan Hung-Hung Hoa,....


For waterway transport: continuing dredging Saigon, Dong Nai and Thi Tinh Rivers; upgrading and constructing the port system for transportation, travel and everyday activities.


Electricity and water supply: investing synchronously in the upgrading and construction of new power supply system, water supply to meet the needs of production and people's lives, especially in the industrial park and urban areas. The average power growth rate increases 24%/year in the period of 2006-2010 and decreases to 13%/year in the period of 2011-2015.


The total demand for power consumption is 6,700 GWh and 12,400 GWh by 2010 and 2015 respectively. Load components for production and consumption are about 20% by 2015 and 18% by 2020. Load components for the development of service industry is about 36% in the period of 2006-2015 and keep at 30% in the period after 2015. By 2010, the water sector shall handle up to 247,000 m3/day and 462,000 m3 /day by 2020; ensuring 95-97% of rural households access to electricity and clean water by 2010 and this rate reaches 100% by 2020.


- Communication: Developing a modern and synchronous telecommunications sector under the digitization and automation standards to ensure smooth communication throughout the province, and link to key economic regions in the South.
