Deputy MoIT Nguyen Cam Tu to attend the opening ceremony of Trade Promotion Office of Vietnam in Chongqing, China PDF Print

VIETRADE - On 28th May, 2015 in Chongqing, China, Vietnam Trade Promotion Office was officially opened. This is the first trade promotion office of Vietnam in China opened according to the Agreement on establishing Trade office between Vietnam and China signed on 13th October 2013.   

The opening ceremony received the attendance of H.E. Mr. Nguyen Cam Tu - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade; Representatives of Vietnam’s Embassy in Beijing, Representative of Office of the Government of Vietnam; Representatives of Vietnamese enterprises; and Deputy Mayor of Chongqing, Ministry of Commerce, Foreign Economic Committee and relevant authorities of China.

Chongqing is an important city in China, a gateway in promoting economic and trade performance between the Southwestern area of China and Vietnam. Two-way economic and trade value between Vietnam and Chongqing reached USD2.52 billion in 2014, making an increase of 215.7%. In the first four months of 2015, two-way trade value continued to increase with value of USD653 million, an increase of 33.2%. In terms of investment, in 2014 Vietnam received 13 more investment projects from Chongqing to Vietnam with total value reaching USD62.97 million. It is expected that economic and trade relation between Vietnam and Chongqing has great potentials.

Therefore, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam has chosen Chongqing to be the first city to set up Vietnam Trade Promotion Office. The establishment of Vietnam Trade Promotion Office in Chongqing is the evidence for the cooperation and development between the two countries and two ministries. Trade Promotion Office in Chongqing will be a bridge for a closer economic and trade relation between the two countries. Two countries will continue to explore potentials and complimentary factors in order to develop the economic relation to a new level./.
