Conference briefings on trade promotion activities in the South during the first 5 months of 2016 Print

VIETRADE - Under the instruction of  the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and An Giang’s People’s Committees on May 27th, 2016 a conference briefings on trade promotion activities in the Southern provinces/cities was organized  by the Viet Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE) and An Giang’s Investment and Trade Promotion Center in Chau Doc to revise and evaluate trade promotion activities’ results in the South during the first five years and discuss about the constraints, the deployment directions and coordinated plan by the end of 2016.

 

Presented at the conference were Mr. Do Thang Hai, Deputy Minister of MoIT, Mr Le Van Nung, Vice Chairman of An Giang’s People’s Committee, Mr. Bui Huy Son, Director of VIETRADE, subordinate units and leaders of Industry and Trade Departments, Trade Promotions Centers, Professional and Industrial Associations from 20 cities and provinces in the South.


In her speech at the conference, Ms. Bui Thanh An, Deputy Director of the VIETRADE, representing Ho Chi Minh TPA presented a report on the result of trade promotion activities during the first five months of 2016 by Southern trade promotion Centers and analyze opportunities and difficulties in the time to come. Trade promotion activities in the first five months of 2016 were eventful, effective and constructive to the trade promotion activities across the country. Specifically, more than 200 trade promotion programs were implemented at the cost of VND 15.2 billion; trade promotion centers directly organized 11 delegations concentrated on Trade and Investment Promotion activities (market research, business activities), welcomed 23 international business delegations for business and investment matching activities; organized more than 20 trade fairs and exhibitions in Southern provinces and participated in more than 50 international and domestic trade fairs, organized 35 training workshops, conferences, etc.,. Trade promotions programs has supported 2,000 enterprises.

 

Delegations from participating units actively exchanged experience and proposed solutions to such issues as: information dissemination, market research and approach; mechanism and the adoption of mechanism in line with the local context; experience on organizing trade promotion events, especially regional trade fair, networking  between centers and trade promotion agency and among centers; investment promotion issues; FDI attraction; constraints in complying with export standards on quality by Vietnam enterprises.

In his remarks at the Conference, Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai appraised the good performance of trade promotions agencies and units across the country in general and in the Southern provinces in particular in facilitating all sector enterprises in product consumption, contributing to the growth of export turnover, expanding domestic, mountain, border and island markets. Mr. Hai also stressed on the need for continuous investment, quality and efficiency improvement of trade promotion activities domestically and internationally in the time to come to actively facilitate enterprises in the process of global economic integration.


In his concluding remarks with appreciation to the directions by Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai, Mr. Bui Huy Son, Director of the trade promotion agency requested Industry and Trade Departments to work closely with  Trade Promotion Centers to study and  realize enterprises’ demand in constructing feasible programs, improving professionalism and capacity to plan and implement trade promotion programs, which are professional, effective and constructive to the overall objectives by the Industry and Trade sector in 2016 and the coming years.

 

On the same day, Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai presented at the opening ceremony of the Tinh Bien-An Giang International trade fair which is under the 2016 National Trade Promotion program targets at export growth in the Mekong sub region nations such as Lao, Cambodia and create opportunities to enhance economic, trade and investment collaboration between An Giang and other cities and provinces. The trade fair hosting 450 booths attracted 200 domestic and international enterprises with products ranging from agriculture produces, machineries, handicrafts, interior decors…
