Southern Kien Giang Province attracts nearly 700 investment projects Print

VIETRADE – The southern Kien Giang Province has attracted 15 investment projects this year with a total registered capital of more than VND2.5 trillion (US$111.6 million), bringing the total number of projects in the province to 690, altogether worth VND450 trillion.

 

Of them, more than 320 projects in a number of sectors such as agriculture, fishery, trade, tourism and construction were put into operation, which had total investment of VND140 billion, or 31 per cent of the total registered capital in the province.

 

According to Mai Van Huynh, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, the province would strive to create favorable conditions to raise investments from all economic sectors through models of build-operate-transfer (BOT), build-transfer-operate (BTO), build-transfer (BT) and public-private partnership (PPP) to develop the infrastructure system.

 

Besides, promotion activities would be accelerated to attracted investors in sectors of the province's advantages as well as hastening administrative reform. At the same time, the province would efficiently implement tax, credit and land incentives and policies.

 

Focus would also be placed on speeding up land clearance to create conditions for investors to implement their projects.

 

Kien Giang Province was also continuing its effort of developing the infrastructure system at industrial zones like Thanh Loc, Tac Cau in Chau Thanh District, Thuan Yen in Ha Tien District and Xeo Ro in An Bien District to attract more investments.

 

In addition, the province was building a tourism development plan in line with a goal of raising resources for developing tourism infrastructure, with a focus on Phu Quoc, an island of rich tourism potential.

 

Phu Quoc Island District has attracted significant investments so far, with 189 projects worth VND212.656 billion, 23 of which were foreign invested. In the island, 28 projects were already in operation./.
