With the expectation to enter Japanese market through AEON Retail Group, who has a history of more than 200 years operating in Japan, Vietnam’s consumer products will have chance to reach Japanese consumers.

In addition to displaying, promoting and introducing Vietnamese products to Japanese consumers, within the week, other activities will also be held such as business matching between Vietnamese enterprises and Japanese distributors and importers, seminar to promote the tourism of Viet Nam and Ha Noi; demonstration of products by Phu Vinh (Chuong My District) Rattan and Bamboo Village, etc.

The week is the last activity of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the High-level representative delegation of Viet Nam in Tokyo within the framework of the official visit to Japan.

Before that, on Jun 6th, with the witness of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Chairman of the Japan Trade External Trade Organization (JETRO) Hiroyuki Ishige presented the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organizations to further strengthen the cooperation in the field of trade and economic relations between Viet Nam and Japan.

The MOU focuses on such areas as supporting Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises in trade and business cooperation and investment promotion, supporting Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises to make use of preferences from the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) and other free trade agreements that the two countries join and sign to enhance the cooperation in services, bilateral trade promotion through e-commerce, support for supporting industries of Viet Nam and cooperation to improve the development of small and medium enterprises. etc.

Over the past years, MOIT of Viet Nam, represented by Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE), and JETRO, represented by offices in Viet Nam, have jointly held regular Vietnam – Japan Supporting Industries Exhibition for seven times. The purpose of the exhibition is to help Vietnamese component manufacturers to access the models and needs of Japanese companies investing and manufacturing in Viet Nam or in the world, who have the demands to source components and spare parts for the production process of finished products of Japanese enterprises.

This is a practical activity to ensure the commitment of Japanese investors in Viet Nam in seeking and assisting Vietnamese supporting industries manufacturers to supply components and to participate in the global value chain of Japanese branded products. The signing of the MOU between MOIT of Viet Nam and JETRO during the official visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has a special meaning to affirm the commitment of the two parties in further supporting the business community of Viet Nam and Japan to promote the economic, trade and investment cooperation on the basis of mutual benefits, sustainable development and effective cooperation.

Previously, at the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo, the Investment Promotion Conference has been organized. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Minister of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam Tran Tuan Anh and other members of the delegation have participated with more than 1600 representatives from Vietnamese and Japanese companies.
