Export turnover of Tien Giang increased sharply Print

VIETRADE - In the first 6 months of 2017, the export turnover of Tien Giang province reached more than US$ 1.22 billion, an increase of 34.7% over the same period last year. Out of that total, the state economic sector accounted for US$ 32.9 million, rising by 5.9 times; the non-state sector accounted for US$ 328.9 million, rising by 19%, and the foreign invested sector accounted for US$ 863.1 million, rising by 37.6% over the comparable period of 2016.


Key export items of Tien Giang in the first half of this year included seafood, rice, garments, etc. In particular, seafood exports in January-June 2017 achieved 60,577 tons with an export turnover of US$ 178 million, a drop of 0.1% in volume but an increase of 41.8% in value compared to 2016. In the first six months of 2017, the province exported 152,207 tons of rice, earning US$ 72 million, increasing by 94.2% in volume and by 97.5% in value over the previous year. It also exported 35,988 thousand garment products in this period of 2017, earning US$ 211.3 million, up 17.9% in volume and 28% in value over the same period last year.


From January to June 2017, the flowers importing of Tien Giang was at US$ 577.9 million, rising by 9.6% compared to the same period of 2016. Imports of the province were mainly for the processing industry with a total turnover of US$ 572.6 million, which is 9.6% higher than the previous year. Especially, the import value for garment industry was US$ 150.2 million, a rise of 16.2% over the same period last year.
