H.E. Minister Tran Tuan Anh welcomes Director of International Trade Center (ITC) of United Nations PDF Print

On 6th June 2019, at the headquarter of Ministry of Industry and Trade, H.E. Minister Tran Tuan Anh had a meeting with Ms. Arancha Gonzalez, Director of International Trade Center (ITC – Trade policy research agency supporting trade promotion activities of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization). Both sides has discussed about the activities that ITC Center is cooperating with Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as cooperated activities in the future.

At the meeting, Ms. Gonzalez expressed her pleasure about good results between the two organizations over the past time through export promotion programs in the period of 2018-2021 such as Trade facilitation, Non-tariff barriers mesures in international trade, Sustainable development in trade and Shetrades.

Among that, Sustainable developement in trade (Green Hub – T4SD) is an expected activity and attracted many attention from Vietnamese small and medium enterprise community. This activity will be implemented in the period of 2019 – 2020 in order to focus on supporting organizations and enterprises to develop export effectively and sustainably in the context of climate change being more and more serious.

SheTrades program focuses on business-women and beneficiary women. The goal of this program is improving the capacity of business-women participating in international trade. In particular, SheTrades is planning to link with Amazon to support business-women using e-commerce effectively.

Highly appreciate ITC’s ongoing cooperation with Ministry of Industry and Trade (through Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency) in recently, Minister Tran Tuan Anh proposed ITC to continue to coordinate and support Ministry of Industry and Trade with some specific activities as follows:

- Overall assessment of competitiveness of Vietnam economy in the context of restructuring towards modernization, increasing the value;

- Overall assessment of potential export of Vietnam towards sustainable development and increasing value, as a basis for designing export promotion policies in the period 2020-2030.

Ms. Arancha Gonzalez expressed her sincere thanks to Minister for taking time to welcome the delegation of International Trade Center and pledged to cooperate tightly with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to conduct the targets proposed by Minister Tran Tuan Anh.
