Strengthening trade promotion operations in the North in 2014 Print

VIETRADE - In the two days November 3-4 in Hanoi, Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade), under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, organized a training course on trade promotion operations.


The course had the participation of management representatives, officials of trade promotion agencies, corporations, business groups, trade associations and exporters... in the North (from Quang Binh northwards).


On his welcome speech, Vietrade’s Director General Bui Huy Son said the agency has frequently held training courses on trade promotion in regions, which aim to improve the knowledge and skills, as well as share practical experiences in the process of organizing trade promotion activities in localities. This thereby provided agencies and enterprises with better skills to organize trade promotion to enhance sustainable exports.

According to the Director General, to ensure the success of the 2014 export plan and the long-term objective of shortening the path to balance export and import in 2015, as well as put the import-export strategy during the period of 2011-2020 with the vision to 2030 as directed by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 950/QD-TT dated July 25, 2012, in place ahead of its schedule, the Government, ministries, trade promotion agencies and business community need to put more efforts to increase the capacity of performing trade promotion activities effectively.


The program focused on improving skills and specific profession in implementing and supporting trade promotion activities such as organizing and participating in trade fairs and expos at home and abroad; arranging fact-finding and market research trips; and improving marketing trade promotion skills.


In addition, the course also provided learners with update trade promotion information, including financial mechanism of the national trade promotion program, national branding program and some useful tools on IT platform.


Participants also had time to discuss, propose initiatives and specific solutions to improve the quality of trade promotion activities of agencies, organizations, associations and businesses that will help strengthen effectiveness of trade promotion operations, develop local and overseas markets.


Presentations and teaching at the course were delivered by prestigious lecturers of the Foreign Trade University, University of Trade and managerial staff of the Trade Promotion Agency.


The training course was highly appreciated by the majority of participants and learners. Nguyen Van Tuyen, director of Tien Dat Investment and Service Trading Production Co. Ltd, as well as many learners agreed that the course has met the needs of participants. Particularly, presentations of experts and discussion among learners offered valuable and necessary knowledge and skills for agencies, organizations and businesses.
